Top five things to do this summer

So, what you getting up to this summer? No idea? Well here are five things you gotta try out.

The Skydive

First off a bit of thrill-seeking with the ultimate outdoor activity: the exhilarating skydive. Don’t take my word for it. Try it out yourself. The tandem skydive (the one with an expert strapped to you) costs €320 or the solo skydive is €320. The skydive package for tandem or solo includes photos and a DVD. The minimum amount that must be fundraised for a charity solo or tandem skydive is €640. There are also discounts for groups of ten or more. This is clearly something that shouldn’t be missed out on. So go on gather your friends together and journey over to Tipperary for the time of your life. If you’re interested check out the website:

The Paris or London trip

Feel like being adventurous or exploring the world? What about starting with our neighbours in England? Most of us know someone there that we can stay with and if not hostels are the way to go. From there you can travel from Dover to Calais in France by ferry for the affordable prices from €23; Paris is only down the road. Feeling cultural? Visit the Eiffel Tower and Big Ben. Go shopping in two of the best cities of the world and experience every kid’s dream in Disney Land. All you need to do is brush up on your “quelques mots”.

The Music Festival

The Black Eyed Peas are to play Oxegen

So the sky dive’s done, what else can you get up to? What about a weekend away? Not to some quiet country spa, we’re still young! How about to the most popular music festival in Ireland? Yes, the infamous Oxegen. The concert of a life time, seeing all your favourite acts together such as Eminem, Muse, the Black Eyed Peas, Mumford and Sons, and even more. The list is nearly as long as an article. So mark off the weekend of July the 8th on your calendar and go on out and buy your ticket; only costing €250 for the four days of entertainment. Not only will you see modern day music legends, you will experience camping not with nature but with friends, booze and new people. If you’re a clean freak there always is the luxury camping area (green campsite). So there’s no excuse.

Zorbing

Another exhilarating activity: give zorbing (pictured across) a go. Ever wanted to live in a bubble? Well for just 15 pounds in Northern Ireland you can have a go in one. Feel the adrenaline rush as you roll down a hill inside a giant PVC ball at speeds of up to 30mph. This crazy activity is too good to miss. Check it out at www.outdoorni.com.

The Summer Job

Well to finance all of this I think you’ll need to get a job, so let this be the fifth thing you MUST do this summer. Don’t be snobby now, jobs aren’t coming easy; there is nothing wrong with smelling like chips if it allows you to see the world on your time off. Anyway see you there.
