Wii're off to Wii
NUIG’s Sports and Recreation Unit are encouraging students to get up and get active through a number of events this semester. Fun Runs, fitness classes, Futsal five a side soccer and Wii Nights are only some of the activities offered as part of the “Get off the Couch” initiative.
To kick start Semester 2, a Futsal Indoor Soccer Blitz takes place on Wednesday January 20th January in the Sports Complex. Following this in early February, the Futsal Women and Mens will start with an 8 week League. With last semester’s League winners Red Devils hoping to defend their title, the Semester 2 League is sure to be very competitive.
A new Wii recreational programme will begin with a Wii Fitness Night on Wednesday 20th January. Taking place inside in The Cube in Áras na Mac Leinn the Wii Fitness nights promise to be a warm and dry way to keep fit this January. Wii nights will be on tour to a student residence near you this Semester so keep an eye out for them!
In March 2010 our very popular Fun Run will make a comeback with students and staff alike running just for fun. Also on Tuesday evenings from 6- 7pm in the Sports Complex, the NUI Galway Boxing Club run Club Fitness- Boxercise and everyone is welcome!
"Get off the Couch" will play an active part in Clubs week with a range of free events all this week. "Get Off the Couch" proudly supports Clubs Week and wants to remind all NUI Galway students to get your tickets for the Club's Ball which is guaranteed to be a great night.
