Eleventh hour reprieve for University management on Gala Banquet protest
A draft proposal submitted by University management on Friday March 5th led the SU to take the decision to call off their protest of the Gala Banquet on Saturday March 6th. The proposal according to Donna Cummins SU President "Addresses some of our major concerns regarding the usage of the Bailey Allen Hall." She added that the SU believes "headway has been achieved in terms of addressing fair access of Áras na Macléinn. The University is taking the concerns of students seriously. In light of this progress, the SU executive has made the decision that our protest of the Gala Banquet will not take place as we await immediate discussions with University management over the next two weeks."
She did issue a warning however, "Our decision to protest the National Labour Conference will be under review and it will go ahead if students of the University do not get the access they are entitled to."
